My name, Esther, means “hidden” or “I will hide” in Hebrew. In Ancient Persian where the name originated, it means “moon” (some say “star”).
The moon goes through various phases of hiddenness throughout the month. To the observer it seems to be missing a piece, but in truth the moon is always whole.
In Jewish thought, the moon represents the feminine - the ever-evolving, waxing and waning flow of the female spirit.
To me, the moon symbolizes the hills and valleys of my creative energy. As an artist and deep empath, I’ve had to learn over and over about the beauty and sacredness in each phase of the spiritual cycle - the vibrant and productive parts, and the parts that feel heavy, quiet, and slow.
The moon is a powerful reminder that though our access to our Godly spirit shifts and evolves, in essence it is always there, always available, always whole.
